The car has power steering, power brakes, power locks, power windows, seat belts, air conditioning, sports side trim, tonneau cover, Kelsey Hayes wire wheels with the correct tires for the car. The guy who rebuilt the motor and transmission and helped the owner restore the car is a Master ASE certified technician. It features an automatic, column shift transmission with a “swing away” steering column. The power plant consists of a 390 v8 engine with, according to the owner, roughly 300 horsepower. According to the owner, at the time of restoration there was no rust repair needed, the car was a solid example to begin with. The body work and paint were done at Wolf and Gleason Auto Body. The chrome shows very well and as you can see the underside was also restored. The interior was beige per the Data plate but was change at the time of restoration. It is dressed in a stunning paint of Corinthian White over a red interior.

This gorgeous Thunderbird was completely restored and built with great care and love. While such a dramatic change would have doom written all over it, the sales took off and grew at a time when almost all other American vehicles didn't. The 2nd generation (starting in 1958) would see the Thunderbird grow to 4 seats and offer a hardtop coupe and a convertible. It was a personal luxury car (when there really wasn't such a thing) that was a 2-seat roadster, but Ford felt the sales could be even better.
